The village of Plitra is a settlement close to Papadianika, on the southeastern edge of Peloponnisos. It has a very beautiful beach with golden sand, and it is 17k away fromthe village Molaoi of Laconia. This seaside village has about 175 residents, who are mainly occupied with tourism-related businesses as well as the cultivation of olive-trees.

The ruins of the ancient city of Asopos are located in the coastal area of the settlement, and the village also has a small port for yachts and boats. An abandoned and half-destroyed house on the small port is the first house of the settlement, built between 1830-1840 by the Venetsanakis family, whose members were close friends with Theodoros Kolokotronis.

During the first ten days of August, Plitra's residents organize cultural events with live-music nights, theatrical plays, painting exhibitions, as well as races and athletic competitions.

There are archaeological findings all over the area, and visitors can be given a tour to all of the sites in the area by archaeologists of the Municipality. Visitors can choose to visit and see carved roman tombs, ruins of buildings, the carved image of Hercules on a quarry, a complex of late ancient Christian tombs, roman bathhouses, a balineum bath with a mosaic-decorated floor, and others.
